Mr. Larry Macon, Jr. is a pastor, leader, author, motivational speaker, and recording artist. He currently serves as the Co-pastor of Mt. Zion Church of Oakwood Village, a ministry that now serves a membership of more than 6,000 people and is one of the largest churches in the Greater Cleveland area. Mr. Macon has devoted his life to helping others through teaching at conferences, writing books, and coaching individuals that seek his counsel.

His philanthropic efforts lie in his role as organizer of the Haitian relief efforts for the Mt. Zion Ministry, and Safe Surrender, a program in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals to bring in more than 7,000 people with outstanding warrants. He oversees relief efforts for those in need of food and encouragement through the City Mission and the Nursing Home ministries. Mr. Macon also expanded his volunteer involvement by leading an organ and tissue donation campaign during the late 1990s. He is the organizer and host of one of the largest financial conferences in the Greater Cleveland area called “The Freedom Conference for Financial Empowerment,” where he partners with local banks and financial institutions to mentor people on financial planning and living debt-free lives.

He served as the Director of Governmental Affairs and Multicultural Affairs for the University of Central Florida. Mr. Macon worked in the United States Congress where one of his first missions and accomplishments was to get the Tuskegee Airman their first U.S. stamp. He also worked with the Orange County Government of Florida for their summer feeding program directing the county on feeding underprivileged children during the summer months. Mr. Macon served as a trained mediator for Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida and fought for the rights of tenants in landlord tenant disputes, and was named a Minority Leaders Fellow in Washington, D.C. for his efforts.

Mr. Macon was selected for Kaleidoscope magazine’s 40 Under 40, a feature of “40 African Americans, ages 40 and under, who are making significant contributions within the United States and within their respective organizations.”

Mr. Macon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Central Florida, a master’s degree in Theological Studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA and a Juris Doctor of Law from Florida A&M University, College of Law where he graduated in the Inaugural Class of 2005. During his time at Florida A&M University, he organized and published “The Independent Strike,” which was the first law school newsletter in the history of the school.

He has authored three books, one co-authored with his father and brother named, Porch Stories: Told and Interpreted, and is the sole author of Captured but not Conquered: How to the Live the Life of a Survivor, and Relationships: Seven Steps to Healing, Restoration, & Reconciliation. As a Contemporary Christian Recording Artist, he just released his new single entitled “I Give You My Life,” which he has already sold 500,000 units.

Mr. Macon is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, where he continues to positively impact countless lives. He loves his family, is the proud husband of Elodie Macon and father of three children, Alana, Michael, and Lauryn. He is the son of Bishop Larry Macon, Sr., and mother Marilyn Macon, and brother to Daniel Macon.
